Safety Training

Safety. It's not an addition or an afterthought. Safety is a necessary component to the development of a quality product on time and within budget.

More importantly, making safety a priority assures the well being of you and your coworkers.

Marek University provides specialty safety training for all employees as well as continuing safety and compliance courses for our supervisory employees.

The Four Hour Safety Orientation

All new employees are targeted to attend this course which covers our commitment to safe operations and safe work practices:

  • Introduction to Company History
  • Hazardous Communications - HAZCOM
  • Ladder Safety
  • Scaffold Safety
  • Stilts
  • Aerial Lifts and Powered Equipment
  • Fall Protection
  • Lifting Mechanics
  • Accident Prevention

These classes are offered monthly, in English and Spanish, in all of our branches.

OSHA 10-Hour Hazards Awareness Course

This course will be offered quarterly in all our locations and is designed to meet OSHA- DOL training requirements. All Marek employees that are responsible for production operations are expected to attend this class. Students will be expected to interact with the instructor, answer questions, provide/discuss examples from branch experience, and be prepared to work through classroom examples of the OSHA regulations covered in this course. The curriculum will be updated prior to each class and will include the following topics:

  • Introduction to OSHA act, Subpart C, General training Requirements, Rights and Responsibilities of Employers/Employees, Competent Person.

General Duty 5(a)1 Clause

  • Electrical - Subpart K - Temporary Power, Ground Fault Protection, Electrical Guarding, Lock-Out Tag Out
  • Fall Protection - Subpart M - Training Requirements, Fall Plans, Hazards Awareness
  • Scaffolding - Subpart L - Erection of Principle Types, Competent Person, Fall Protection Rules, Materials Use, Safe Access
  • Construction Equipment - Subpart O - Motorized Equipment, Guarding, Aerial Lift Trucks, Fork Lifts, Motor Vehicles, Mechanized Equipment
  • Ladders and Stairways - Subpart X - Housekeeping, Construction, Fall Protection
  • Personal Protective Equipment - Subpart E - Safe Work Practices, Respirators and Fit Testing, Hearing protection
  • Accident Investigation, OSHA Inspection Procedures, Multi-Employer Jobsites, Citation Reviews, Documentation Required on Jobsites, Project Safe
