Students from the technology academy at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School gave a loud round of applause as representatives from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) delivered boxes of construction supplies last week. The boxes contained a donation of hard hats, gloves, safety glasses and reflective vests for students to use during class assignments.
“We are really looking forward to this partnership. Hopefully it will be something good for the school and at the same time will allow us to introduce young men and women to our industry. These young people are the future of our industry,” said Phil Nevlud who represented ABC through construction company Marek.
ABC is planning to do much more. Members are scheduling additional visits to talk to students about the construction industry, assist students with obtaining various safety certifications and hope to demonstrate some specific construction techniques to students who are interested in pursuing the field full-time.
