How does Marek Brothers Systems Houston satisfy an aggressive twelve-month schedule and impress one of the best performing petroleum companies in the world?
Easy. Just combine 240 miles of structural metals, add 3 million board feet of various drywall components, spray with 5,000 gallons of textured elastomeric sealants and wrap in 60,000 square feet of specialty fabrics all in an aggressive 12 month schedule - and the results are the new 30 story Anadarko Petroleum Tower, located in the Woodlands, Texas. |

According to Lonnie Miller, Project Manager for MBS Houston, the schedule was grueling, causing our crews to spend the last three months on the project working seven days a week. " We had all the typical challenges: weather, water damage in the core and tenant spaces, exterior glass left out in critical places, owner changes as we went up through the core, restacking of tenant spaces while still building the core, rebuilding the exterior framing after the personnel hoist was taken down and all of this in time for the tenant and core packages to complete on time and on budget. Both Randy Viereck, Paint Division Manager, and Lonnie had high praise for their crews. " A very aggressive schedule to meet DE Harvey Builder's needs. Matt Kolaja was instrumental in painting the entire 10-story garage, applying 5000 gallons of textured elastomeric sealant with his crew, staying to a very critical timeline. " |

Another drywall/paint challenge: how to apply a Level 5 metallic finish to a GRG column product that is not designed to take that kind of finish. No challenge for the likes of Darrel Walker and Joey Buxton ( Paint) , Joey Watson ( Drywall), or Mark Perez ( Finishing). First, assemble the 32-plus foot columns
in four sections, hoist into place and attach to structure, finish the reveals and rebuild the reveals on the fly, seal - prime- seal prime- seal, prime and paint! And all of this while keeping pace with the original schedule and the almost daily changes from the owner. Some parts of the job were re-stacked as many as three times: many thanks to Anthony Stepanik, Ray Mataska, and Ed Arrendono

" The talent level of our crews the way Joey, Ray, Mark and Darral and their crews maintained their professionalism in the face of trying circumstances was just unbelievable," says Lonnie Miller. " It was the only way we were able to get the job done on time and under budget, to the satisfaction of our customer." |
