Life After MAREK

I’m always looking for things that are suitable to post on MAREK’s social media pages and website.

One evening I was scrolling through Facebook, and I came across a post about MAREK that made me take a second and third look.

This post was different. This person was no longer a MAREK employee – and yet he still feels MAREK pride and was excited to share it.

I’m no stranger to MAREK pride, after all earlier that week I attended MAREK’s annual Workforce Development graduation and was still reeling from the experience. There’s nothing quite like watching the pride on the faces of the young men and women who completed the program. There’s no limit to the potential they have, and I have no doubt that those levels will be met.

The post read:

There’s not one part of me that didn’t want to contact Sam Bazoria and see what his post was about, so I sent him a message asking if I could use the above clipping to post on MAREK’s page. To say that Sam was more than excited is an understatement. He told me about how he started at MAREK in 2009 as a helper and shortly moved over to Oak Forest Lumber. During one of MAREK’s safety meetings – Operations Director Saied Alavi asked Sam to translate for him in front of 100 MAREK employees. Speaking in front of a group of people can be nerve-racking for some, but Sam took it as a challenge and decided then and there, he wanted to do more. He wanted to lead, and lead he did.

Sam graduated from the Workforce Development classes that MAREK offered him and though those skills didn’t keep him at MAREK, he’s used the knowledge and tools gained during his time at MAREK to secure a position as a Project Manager/Superintendent for a custom home builder, which has strong ties to MAREK’s residential company.

I’d like to say thank you to Sam for sharing his story. The sky's the limit, and he’s got the skills and momentum to make his mark on the industry.

This is proof that MAREK’s Workforce Development graduates have the potential to reach heights that they can be proud of both within the MAREK organization and outside of it.
