Fireproofing/Firestopping

Fireproofing – MAREK installs fireproofing by using fire-resistant materials in a building to help prevent collapse, and allow safe egress of occupants in case of a fire. Fireproofing insulates a structure from heat, that can be applied through various methods based on the specifications and building codes.

Firestopping – MAREK is a FM4991 certified Firestopping Contractor since 2017 and a Hilti Accredited Firestop Specialty contractor since 2023. We believe that Firestopping is an integral component of every fire prevention plan during the construction/remodel phase of a building. Firestopping contains the fire to one area allowing people to evacuate the building safely, and in time for first responders to arrive.

There are no “one size fits all” solutions in the world of firestop. Our DRIs select and install the correct firestop system for each specific situation every time. MAREK follows strict guidelines in the selection and installation of firestopping systems in accordance with FM 4991, and manufacturer’s standards.

The fire protection features of every building require continued management and must be maintained to preserve the safety that they are designed to provide. Total fire protection includes; detection and alarm systems, exit signs, lighting, properly maintained egress routes, fire sprinklers, extinguishers, and fire compartmentalization.

MAREK Firestop Services Include:

• Fire resistive Joint Systems

• Through Penetrations

• Curtain-wall Firestopping

• Fire Rated Pass-through Devices

• Acoustic Caulk Application

• Spray Applied Fireproofing

In new construction, MAREK is able to coordinate with MEP trade partners to provide a comprehensive penetration and joint firestop package, using single source manufactured products as is often required per project specifications.

On existing buildings, MAREK can provide an extensive survey of the life safety drawings in conjunction with an inspection of the plenum space at fire rated walls, to identify any deficiencies. This is followed by a formal proposal that includes a plan of action to bring rated barriers up to code, cost projection, access plans, and schedule duration.
