The University of Texas at Brownsville set out to create a state-of-the-art music hall that would elevate performing arts education in the Rio Grande Valley. The facility was envisioned as a premier venue for classical music, jazz, ballet, opera, and musical theater. Skanska and Studio Red Architects led the effort to bring this vision to life, designing a world-class auditorium that demanded exceptional craftsmanship and acoustic precision.
MAREK was selected to complete the metal stud framing, drywall sheathing, and acoustical ceilings throughout the facility. The project presented significant challenges due to its complex radius walls and curved ceilings, many of which required work performed high above the finished floor. The design’s intricate geometry and acoustic performance requirements called for experienced tradespeople capable of delivering accuracy, consistency, and safety at every stage.
MAREK worked in close collaboration with Skanska and Studio Red Architects to execute the design with precision and care. Skilled craftsmen constructed the curved framing and seamless drywall systems that defined the building’s architectural character. Acoustical ceilings were installed to achieve the sound clarity and balance essential for a performance venue of this caliber.
Every phase of the work demanded attention to detail and coordination with other trades to ensure that the acoustical integrity of the hall was preserved. MAREK’s commitment to quality and safety was instrumental in meeting the high standards set by the design and construction teams.
The completed UT Brownsville Music Building stands as one of the region’s most distinguished performing arts facilities. Through technical expertise and craftsmanship, MAREK helped transform an educational building into a landmark venue that inspires artists, students, and audiences alike.
