Challenge

After moving into their renovated downtown headquarters in San Antonio, Texas Public Radio faced significant acoustic challenges. Echo and sound reverberation were affecting broadcast and recording quality, making communication difficult and impacting live performances. The project required a solution that could improve acoustics without major structural changes or disruption to daily operations.

Solution

MAREK was brought in to provide a targeted acoustic solution. Our Dallas and San Antonio teams collaborated to install over 11,000 square feet of customized stretch fabric panels across studios and performance spaces. Each panel was carefully designed to accommodate unique wall conditions, HVAC systems, and architectural features, ensuring both optimal sound performance and visual alignment. Work was completed while studios remained active, requiring precise scheduling, coordination, and attention to detail.

The result is a headquarters with dramatically improved acoustics that support clear communication, high-quality recordings, and live performances. Through collaboration with the project team, the renovated space preserves the building’s historic character while creating an environment where storytelling, music, and journalism can thrive.
