Challenge

As the first facility of its kind in the Rio Grande Valley, the new Valley Baptist Micro Hospital brought a fresh model of healthcare delivery to the region. Designed to provide immediate access to emergency and inpatient care in Hidalgo County, the 40,480-square-foot hospital includes an emergency department, inpatient unit, laboratory, pharmacy, and imaging services. Adolfson & Peterson and E4H Architecture led the effort to build a facility that combined the capabilities of a full-scale hospital with the efficiency of a smaller footprint.

MAREK was tasked with providing interior framing, drywall assemblies, and acoustical ceilings across multiple patient and treatment areas. The challenge was to maintain strict healthcare construction standards while managing complex ceiling transitions, infection control measures, and the coordination required for multiple trades working simultaneously in tight clinical spaces.

Solution

MAREK partnered closely with Adolfson & Peterson and E4H Architecture to ensure every interior system met healthcare-grade performance and design requirements. The team installed precise framing and drywall systems throughout patient rooms, trauma areas, and diagnostic suites to achieve smooth finishes and durable surfaces suitable for medical environments. Acoustical ceilings were integrated to enhance sound control and provide a calm, efficient atmosphere for both patients and staff.

Through collaboration, sequencing, and attention to detail, MAREK delivered the project on time and to specification. The completed facility now provides Hidalgo County residents with 24/7 emergency services and advanced inpatient care in a modern, efficient setting. Valley Baptist Micro Hospital stands as a model for accessible, community-based healthcare in South Texas—built with quality and care from the ground up.
