American Airlines HQ

American Airlines set out to create a world-class headquarters that reflected its status as a global aviation leader. The project required innovative building systems, advanced design integration, and high-end finishes that balanced function with visual impact. With complex architectural features like large glass façades and a central rotunda ceiling reflects a jet turbine, the project demanded precise coordination and expert craftsmanship.

MAREK partnered with Austin Commercial, StructureTone Southwest, and Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, Inc. to complete multiple scopes, including window treatments, drywall, ceilings, and acoustical solutions. Our team installed more than 2,000 Hunter Douglas motorized roller shades with self-deploying hem bars and spans exceeding 50 feet, integrated into sloped and canted glazing conditions.

To repare for this project We prepared (in house and thanks to Tommy Weeks and his team) a mockup frame to show manual and motorized shades; a shorter version of the 32’ tall sloped shades; the wider at the top and narrower at the bottom; and the wider at the bottom and narrower at the top and sloped and tilted applications with guide cables. We hosted Pelli Clark Pelli and Kendall Heaton architects; the owners rep; our trade partners Hunter Douglas, local rep and engineer; Somfy and Mermet reps; and Austin Commerical’s team.
